THE BERZERKER w/ Sam (bass/vocals)
# What was your first album purchase? NWA ~ 100 miles and Running EP. Gotta start somewhere. # What was your latest album purchase? Melt Banana ~ Cellscape. First time I’ve gone to see a band and have rushed to the merchandise table to buy a CD based on the performance. # Which single album has changed your perception of music? Morbid Angel ~ Blessed Are the Sick. Didn’t know what genius was until I heard it. # Which album would you pick up for your best friend? Brutal Truth ~ Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses. Everyone needs to hear this album. # And which album would you pick up your worst enemy? Pig Destroyer ~ Prowler in the Yard. I’d send it with like half a dozen dead roses and some fingernail clippings. They’d shit themselves. # Which album would you use to seduce a person of the other sex? Deftones ~ White Pony. You know what I’m talking about. # Your preferred album to fall asleep to? Tricky ~ Nearly God # Your preferred album to wake up to/banish hangovers with? Any Sublime album. # Your preferred album to sing along to in the shower? Any Alice In Chains or Dave Vincent-era Morbid Angel album. # Please recommend an album from the 80s! Kreator ~ Extreme Aggression. One of the contenders for best thrash album of the 80s. # Please recommend an album from the 90s! Morbid Angel ~ Blessed Are the Sick from 1992. This is the album that made me want to learn an instrument. # Please recommend an album from after the turn of the millennium! Nile ~ In their Darkened Shrines. This album has the most standout songs they’ve done I feel. Bit of a jaw-dropper. # What is the most embarrassing album in your collection? Ah shit, there’s heaps. Ugly Kid Joe, Marilyn Manson, Korn… I’ll listen to anything, which is probably the reason I got into death metal in the first place. # And what is the most valuable item in your record collection? Ours, of course. Particularly the limited edition double disc re-release of the first album that we did. Oh yeah, also have an old EP by M.A.R.R.S with Pump Up the Volume on one side and the timeless ANITINA on the other... Damn hard one to find. # Most represented band by raw numbers in your collection? Morbid Angel, again. # Most underrated album in your collection? Soul Coughing ~ El Oso. Band should have won a Grammy for this. Same for Damaged and their first three albums. # Most disappointing album you ever bought? Soul Coughing ~ their second album. I forget the title. Wasn’t bad, was just totally different to what I was expecting and it kind of threw me off. # Name the one album you would have loved the most to have contributed on? I would have loved to record on Morbid Angel ~ Heretic. I would have made sure the bass was cranked and would have stopped talking personal development, and started spewing out Satanism again. # Name the album that you and your record collection lacks the most? Our latest album, World of Lies. I’ve only got a promo of it so far. I want the UK one with the DVD. I’ve no idea what footage is on there. # Name the song you would like to have played at your funeral? Morbid Angel ~ “God of Emptiness” # Name three albums you would bring along to a deserted island? Cafe Del Mar ~ Volumes 1 to 6. For the beach lifestyle. Agoraphobic Nosebleed ~ Bestial Machinery. I’d never want for grind ever again. Carcass ~ Necroticism. I get pangs for this about once every two months.
